That mainspring screw has been in and out of that SAA several times and by someone who probably didn't have SAA screwdrivers or bits. We have three SAA, a late 2nd Gen, an early 3rd Gen and a 1990 3rd Gen all have the full width mainspring.Here is a Colt 2/3 gen grip panel laid on a Uberti Cattleman grip frame. This Colt grip panel was new takeoff and has a serial number scratched on inside. It fit the Uberti frame remarkably well except for the bottom. The Uberti frame is at least 1/16" longer. Brand new grips may have some more material to work with.I bought these in a lot of Colt parts when I was heavily into collecting Colts about 15 years ago.
